Quinta da Travessa

We stayed for 2 nights and had an absolutely lovely experience! The villa is in a small village called Covelinhas, in beautiful surroundings overlooking Douro river. Cristina and Nuno, the owners, are really nice and welcoming - they go the extra mile to make sure that you feel great. Cristina is also a great chef (we recommend getting a dinner with them, but let them know in advance). Nuno will serve you their own port wine after the dinner, and also recommend good wines to accompany. Covelinhas train station is nearby, so it's easy to move around the valley, and you can also drive or walk up to the nearby São Leonardo viewpoint.

I can't recommend this place more! Staying here was the best 4 days of our 2 week stay in Portugal. Beautiful location, wonderful hospitality, amazing meals, and the pool was such a great place to relax. Make sure to eat supper here as Cristina is an amazing chef!!! We cannot wait to stay here again as Nuno and Cristina are such wonderful hosts.

This was the most beautiful place we stayed in in Portugal. Quiet, quaint with beautiful views of the Douro river and the vineyards. Fantastic hospitality from Nuno. Stay for dinner, the food is fantastic and fresh from his garden, and make sure to try his wine!! It’s a great place to slow down, relax and explore at your own pace. Great for photography.

Fantastic Stay in a Stunning Location We had an excellent stay in this beautiful getaway! The room was cozy, comfortable, and spotless. The food was outstanding—highly recommend staying in for breakfast and dinner, as Thelma’s meals and cakes are simply delightful. Nuno is a warm and sociable host who made us feel right at home. The pool was a great addition, and to top it all off, Nuno’s wine quickly became one of our favorites! An unforgettable stay—highly recommended.

Quinta da Travessa is absolutely incredible! This place is stunning and overlooks the Douro river. Nuno is the nicest host with very helpful recommendations and Thelma was a fantastic cook who served delicious breakfast and dinner every night we stayed there. The Quinta itself was beautiful and rustic - you cannot beat the view from the front yard where you can jump in a pool to cool off. You are only a 15 min walk from the local train which you can use to travel to nearby towns for only a few euros. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more and will have to come back some day…you must stay here if you get a chance!

We had an amazing, peaceful time at Quinta da Travessa. The host Nuno was incredibly kind, friendly, professional and helpful. The breakfast was a great start to the day with fresh fruit, local cheese, bread/pastries and eggs. Whenever we had a question about our travel, Nuno was prompt to arrange help. We will definitely be back :)
